In this session, the Faculty of Engineering’s Director of Industry Engagement, Mr Anthony Kadi, will speak about the many work placements, internships, capstone projects and other initiatives available to our students. Find out more about our award-winning Professional Engagement Program (PEP), embedded within all out professional engineering degrees, and our Engineering Sydney Industry Placement Scholarships (ESIPS), a 24-week hands-on industry placement allowing students to work on a real world research project.
Anthony Kadi is currently a senior lecturer (education focused) and Director of Professional Practice in the Faculty of Engineering, Sydney University. He has a long standing interest and focus on engineering education, particularly in professional practice. He has developed and implemented the Professional Engagement Program, a compulsory component of all undergraduate engineering degree programs at Sydney University. He holds a bachelors degree in electrical engineering, majoring in telecommunications; a coursework masters degree in telecommunication engineering and a graduate certificate in educational studies, higher education. He is also a fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
Inventing the Future: A Taster Lecture on Modern Strategic Planning
In this taster lecture, we'll explore the limitations of old strategic planning and the benefits of a modern approach that is focused on invention and innovation, fit for a digital age. You'll learn about the characteristics of modern strategic planning, including the importance of a compelling story, a portfolio of options, and triggering immediate actions.
We’ll discuss examples and by the end of the lecture, you'll have a renewed sense of how modern organisations might approach strategic planning. This taster class showcases content from our ‘Strategy, Innovation and Management’ specialisation within the Master of Commerce degree offered by the Business School.
Dr Jarryd Daymond is a lecturer in the discipline of Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at The University of Sydney Business School. Before academia, Jarryd worked in numerous roles in strategy consulting for large public and private organisations, and has brought his experience into the units he teaches in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship skills, design-led strategy and innovation and strategic management. Jarryd is passionate about supporting the innovation pursuits of students and researchers and has developed entrepreneurial curricular, conferences and training programs both within and outside of universities. In 2019 he was made Fellow of the Higher Education Academy for his work integrating consulting approaches into his teaching and developing curricular in entrepreneurship, big data and analytics.
Jarryd is also a Strategic Management Society Media Innovations team member, and a podcaster with the popular management podcast, Talking About Organisations, where he hosts a weekly conversation about management and organisation studies.
Special Admissions Process for PG students
The Special Admissions Process (SAP) aims to speed up application process for the offshore international PG students who are applying for entry into a postgraduate coursework program starting in August and are unable to provide their transcript and graduation certificate by the course start.
A student can :
Students from Grade 12 onwards can register to attend. Once they register, they’ll receive a confirmation over email, WhatsApp & SMS with their unique link to login on the platform. A meeting ID and password is not required to connect with the University of Sydney over video chat.
When students visit the platform, they share their registration information only with participating institutions. We do not share student information with any other third parties.
Parents should register with their son/daughter’s information.

There is no limit to the number of visits. Students are encouraged to engage with all the faculties of their interest to broaden their career choices.
Yes, you need to turn on your camera and microphone during the video call. This allows the faculty staff to see and hear you. Once the call is finished, you can close the video chat room by clicking the ‘LEAVE’ button displayed on your screen.
Yes, you can start a text chat with our faculty staff while keeping your camera off within the video room. Alternatively, you can communicate via email with the faculty you're interested in. Simply click the ‘Send an inquiry’ button located on the faculty booth.
